16/11/2006 - Club President's Award for net growth 2005-2006
Brian Engert, President & IPP The Lions Club Berowra Club, was presented with the 2 diamond pin for achieving positive net growth for 2005-2006 by Doreen Moore of the MERLOT team. Brian was surprised and pleased by the presentation of the award and for recognition of the Club's growth. During Brian’s Presidency the Berowra Club opened its own Op Shop in the local shopping centre. This has given the Club a generous steady income stream and a very high profile in the community. The shop operates Monday to Saturday, 10.00 to 1.00 pm on a volunteer basis by club members. Profits from the shop have been dispersed to local Rural Fire Services, Community Resource Centre, local Scout groups, Lifeline, SES, Hornsby Hospital and several Lions Club Foundations. The Club is also unique in that it continues to manage, maintain and improve the historic Berowra District Hall which they rent out for functions and various community activities.
