05/12/2006 - Berowra Lions supports Prostate Awareness and Research
$1,000 dollars has been donated to the Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia as our way of supporting research into treatments and/or cures for this disease.

Prostate Cancer is the only one of the three disorders that has the potential to be life-threatening. One of the most worrying aspects is that many prostate cancers develop without men recognizing ANY SYMPTOMS. Almost one man in ten will develop prostate cancer during his lifetime. Every year, around 12,000 Australian men are diagnosed and more than 2,700 die of the disease, making prostate cancer the second largest cause of male cancer deaths, after lung cancer.
